Attention Kmart Shoppers!

I discovered a new blog, “Mixed Race America” and because of it three spoken word poets to rival Vanessa Hidary, the Hebrew Mamita (previously featured on this blog).

First, check out Alix Olsen doing “America’s On Sale” below.

If you’re curious for more, log onto to this recent post from the Mixed Race America blog, “A Spoken Word Trio of Strong Women, for two other spoken word poets.

Do watch Staceyann Chin, who’s got a memoir out about growing up in Jamaica, “The Other Side of Paradise”. Her hair is more gravity defying than mine. Also, you might want to check out Suheir Hammad, a Palestinian-American woman by way of Jordan and ya know, Brooklyn.

These women with cojones are rhapsodizing about everything from the Palestinian point-of-view of 9-11 to the wonders of being classified and categorized and having total gratitude (probably as we are on Pesach?) towards prune juice. So, of course, a warning: STRONG, POSSIBLY/PROBABLY OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT.

But now you’re REALLY curious, no?
