In Theaters:
Pride & Prejudice–Best adaptation of Pride & Prejudice ever. Matthew MacFayden outdoes Colin Firth as best onscreen Mr. Darcy ever. Kiera Knightley is more than tolerable, she’s inspiring as spunky Lizzie Bennet. The film hits on all the important points of Jane Austen’s story without being longwinded or choppy.
Good Night and Good Luck—-As a Communications minor at Fordham University, I took a class called The Murrow Years and read the similarly named book about Edward Murrow’s career. Though the film is a new venture, it uses tons of footage from Murrow’s TV career. Anyone who has ever seen the footage before might enjoy George Clooney’s take on the downfall of Joseph McCarthy and the news career of Murrow but for the most part, the film is a minor blib on the movie screens.
Next up for me: Seeing P&P two more times, Harry Potter 4 after Shabbat on Saturday, Ushpizin, Paradise Now and The Protocols of Zion.
Rental:
Amityville Horror—Yawn! Was this supposed to be scary? Kudos to Alanis Morrisette’s fiance Ryan Reynolds for playing against type and being “a little scary” in this film.
Hostage—-Bruce Willis saves the day…again. This is getting old. The best acting was done by all the child actors. Meanwhile…yawn.

P&P twice more? Infidelity to Colin Firth?
